Catching up: Nana & Pat take Seattle

by Lindsey on July 31, 2012 · 5 comments

Before our whirlwind decision to move to Virginia took place, these two characters boarded a plane on the East Coast and didn’t look back. Thankfully, they brought with them some much needed warmth and sunshine.

We visited Pike Place Market, perused the flowers and saw a fish or two being thrown. But what really caught our attention was the bakery…

It’s no secret where I got my sweet tooth!

Addie got to visit her beloved Space Needle.

The above photo is my very favorite. I might even frame it. If you know Grandma Pat, then you know she is a lover of maps. (What do you think is in that fanny pack?) She is always ready with a perfectly folded map. The apple doesn’t fall far and these two were in map heaven as we made our way to Orcas Island on a ferry.

I wish I could figure out where the rest of my pictures went, but this photo does a pretty good job of capturing how fairytale-like our little adventure was. During our short visit, we saw eagles and otters and Addie chased wild rabbits while we waited for the ferry to dock on our way back to Seattle!

More “catching up” posts to come…

Mitzi I can answer this beacuse my family lives down there! You are outside of my color planting schedule by about a month. The trick is, Las Vegas gets so hot in the summer, but you can grow almost all winter long. My book is really for a spring-summer-fall planting schedule. The dates I offer might work for you and others who live in warmer climates, but really have a spring-summer and a fall-winter season. I am very aware of your needs, and it’s on my list of things to research and write about. But honestly, I can’t speak from experience, only from my research. I encourage you to contact your local extension service ( for a recommended planting schedule.

Elderly neighbour cold-called 02/11/2012 by Susan Watts of TRINITY, Apartado de Correos 11001, 07010 Mallorca, ofeinfrg a35,000 for her 1 week timeshare in Spain, and asking for a3907.50 advance payment by international transfer to an account in Palma for administration fees . Letter was received from Trinity with details of account to which advance payment is to be transferred (IBAN: ES67 0061 0180 6101 0605 0119, SWIFT: BMARES2M), but no description of service to be supplied or Terms and Conditions. Neighbour has been target of multiple Timeshare scams in the past, including one by KPK Marketing, Kensington High Street, London. Interesting to note the UK contact number for Trinity is identical to the one used by KPK Marketing: 0845 303 2794. Trinity is obviously operating a Timeshare resale scam specifically designed and targeted at the elderly. Makes me feel sick!
